11 steps
  1. Switch off the device

    G6 - Switch off the device 01
    G6 - Switch off the device 02
    G6 - Switch off the device 03
    1. Turn off your device by holding down the power button on the back until the “Power off” option appears.
    2. Tap to confirm and wait until the screen goes black.
  2. Remove back cover

    G6 - Remove back cover 05
    G6 - Remove back cover 06
    G6 - Remove back cover 07

To loosen the back cover, use a heat gun or an ordinary hair dryer. Warm glue is easier to loosen, allowing you to remove the back cover.

The easiest way to loosen the back cover is to use a flat and flexible tool such as the iFlex.

We also recommend inserting flat picks to prevent the glue from sticking again.

    1. Heat the entire rear glass. It's glued all around the edges and around the home button and over the USB port.
    2. Insert the iFlex between the rear glass and the frame, but not more than 5 mm.

Be extra careful, the back cover can break very easily. Don't pry with the tool, but only slide it around the edges. If necessary, apply the heat several times and try again. Removing the back cover might take a while. Take a little more time and work carefully to make sure you don't break anything.

    1. Once the rear glass comes off in one place, insert a pick into the gap to keep it open.
    2. Then run the iFlexit around all the edges to gradually loosen the glue.
    3. The rear glass has extra glue around the home button and over the USB port. Here you need to insert the iFlexit a little deeper. But not to far, or you could damage parts on the home button.
    4. Once the rear glass is unglued, you can lift it off. There's not cable attached.
  3. Remove speaker

    G6 - Remove speaker 01
    G6 - Remove speaker 02
    G6 - Remove speaker 03
    G6 - Remove speaker 04
    • 4 × 2.7 mm Phillips

The LG G6 has only one screw length and only the midframe and speaker are screwed in.

    1. Remove the equal-length Phillips screws from the speaker and store them for later.
    2. Then pry out the speaker from the side of the battery and take it out of the device.
  4. Remove midframe

    2. Slide a flat, thin tool into the opening and pry out the midframe here.
    3. The midframe is clipped into the device at 4 points. Carefully release it and take it out once it moves easily.
  5. Disconnect the battery

Don't bend the battery while removing it and don't heat it directly. If you need to soften the glue, heat the screen and not the battery. Don't heat the display to more than 60°C (140°F).The battery glue is not very strong.

    1. Unstick the blue tab on the battery's lower edge.
    2. Pull on the blue tab a little harder to remove the battery. If the battery is hard to unstick, you can heat the display to around 50-60°C to soften the glue.
    3. Take the battery out of the device.
  8. Insert battery

    G6 - Insert battery 01
    G6 - Insert battery 02

  12. Attach rear glass

    G6 - Attach rear glass 02
    1. Place the rear glass back on the device and press it on.

You can heat the rear glass again to make the glue stick better.
