    • 2 × 2.5 mm Torx

You need a torx screwdriver (T2) to open the OnePlus 3.

    1. Remove the two torx screws from the lower edge of the back cover. They are to the left and right of the charging port and the audio port. Place the screws in the same box of the magnetic pad.
  2. Removing the SIM card tray

OnePlus 3 - Removing the back cover 07
    1. Put your OnePlus 3 on a soft, clean surface to avoid scratching the back.
    2. To lift the display, you need a suction cup, a hard plastic pick and a heat gun. If the screen is severely cracked, cover all of it with a strip of packing tape before you continue.
    3. The screen is glued to the frame. Use a heat gun to heat the outer edges of the display to about 60°C (140°F).
    4. Place the suction cup over the Home button (if possible) or next to it. While lifting the screen with the suction cup, insert the hard plastic pick between the aluminum frame and the display frame and press down the aluminum frame. Because the display’s glued on, you have to slide the pick all around the iPhone between the aluminum frame and the display frame.
    5. The display is latched into the back cover at the top end (above the earpiece). Use a pick to press the display towards the home button and lift it out of the display.
  4. Disconnecting the battery

Before starting the repair, disconnect the battery contact to prevent short circuits and avoid accidentally turning on your device during the repair.

    2. Disconnect the two connectors of the flex cables on the mainboard (on top) and the connector on the lower circuit board using a spudger.
    3. Now remove the disconnected flex cable.

    OnePlus 3 - Removing the battery 05
    OnePlus 3 - Removing the battery 06

The battery is glued into the display.

    1. First remove the adhesive strips on both sides of the battery. The strips hold the cables of the standby/volume cables in place.
    2. Bend the flex cable of the lower circuit board to the side and make sure not to damage the cable when taking out the battery.
    3. Grab the tab on the battery and pull on it slowly but with force. Press down the display frame and try pulling out the battery far enough so you can slide your fingers underneath and lift it out.

If the tab rips, you can slide a flat, blunt plastic tool under the battery to remove it.

Don't bend the battery too much and don't use a pointed or sharp tool, since this could damage the battery.
