Find X5 Lite - Replacing the screen

Use our checklist to test the basic functions of your Oppo Find X5 Lite before repairing. This way you can check afterwards if your repair was successful.

1. Press and hold the power button for a few seconds.
2. Tap on Power off in the displayed menu.

The edge of the back cover is heavily glued. Use a heat gun or an ordinary hair dryer to heat it sufficiently.

1. Heat the edge of the back cover by running the hot air device evenly over it.

As an alternative to the suction cup, we can recommend the iSclack, which requires less force to lift up the back cover.

The iFlex can be inserted particularly well between the back cover and the screen unit due to its sharp edges.

1. Attach a suction cup to the lower edge of the back cover and pull it upwards to create a narrow gap.
2. At the same time, insert a flat tool into the gap between the back cover and the screen unit.

In order to prevent the glue of the back cover from bonding again, we recommend sliding flat plastic picks under the back cover at regular intervals.

To avoid damaging the camera module, you should not insert your tool too far. At this point, the hard plastic pick is therefore particularly suitable.

1. Drive your tool completely around the edge of the back cover to loosen it piece by piece.
2. Put the detached back cover aside.

1. Press a SIM tool into the small opening next to the SIM tray to push it out of the device frame.
2. Then pull the tray completely out of the frame.

• 18 × 3.7 mm Phillips

We recommend using a screw storage, such as our magnetic pad, to keep all small parts and screws safe and organized.

1. Remove the 18 Phillips screws fixing the middle frame and place them in the screw storage.

The middle frame is firmly hooked to the screen unit.

1. On one of the two long sides, push a flat pick between screen unit and middle frame with a bit of pressure.
2. Run your tool around the frame once. It must loosen audibly and noticeably.

• Connector

To avoid a potential short circuit during the repair, you should always disconnect the battery as soon as possible.

1. Carefully detach the battery connector with a spudger from the motherboard.

The battery of the Oppo Find X5 Lite is attached via an adhesive film. Its adhesive tabs help remove the battery without any heating and levering.

1. First, pull off the four adhesive tabs from the battery's surface one after the other.
2. Then pull the two narrow adhesive tabs upwards on both sides until the battery is detached.

The adhesive film under the battery must be transferred to the new screen.

1. Heat the adhesive film, so it can be removed more easily.
2. Then carefully pull it off the case's bottom. A steel spatula can be helpful here.

• Connector

The screen cable is connected to the slot of the black connecting cable.

1. Carefully disconnect the cable with a spudger.

• Connector

The connecting cable connects the USB and motherboard. Its lower end is divided into a connector and the slot for the screen cable. The latter is slightly glued.

To avoid damage to your device, especially to the motherboard, you should only use ESD-certified tweezers.

1. First, separate the cable's connector from the USB board.
2. Then also loosen the slot. This is best done with tweezers.

• Connector

The two antenna cables are each connected with two small metal plugs. We recommend using ESD tweezers to disconnect them.

1. Carefully lever the four metal plugs of the antenna cables off the USB and motherboard.
2. Start by pulling the cables out of their guides in the edge of the case.

The two antenna cables run underneath the volume cable. To remove them completely, you have to disconnect the volume cable first.

1. First, pull off the adhesive strip that holds the volume cable in place.
2. Heat up the glued volume cable to make it easier to detach.
3. Carefully detach it from the edge of the case with a pair of tweezers.

1. Pull both antenna cables out of their guide one by one and put them aside.

1. Since the speaker is neither screwed nor glued, you can take it directly out of the device.
2. A spudger may be useful for a first lift.

• Connector

1. Separate the connectors of the fingerprint sensor and orange connecting cable from the USB board.
2. Then, lever the board out and put it aside.

The vibration motor is slightly glued. To make it easier to remove, you can first briefly heat it with hot air.

A small recess in the guide shows you where you can best place your tool.

1. Release the vibration motor from its guide by carefully running a pair of tweezers underneath it.

The fingerprint sensor is slightly glued. To make it easier to remove, you can first briefly heat it with hot air.

1. Carefully release the sensor from its guide using ESD tweezers.

• Connector

1. Carefully separate the connectors of the two connecting cables and camera modules from the motherboard.

• 1 × 2.7 mm

1. Loosen the single Phillips screw that holds the motherboard in place.
2. Then lever it up and put it aside.

Be especially careful when detaching the glued camera modules to avoid damaging anything.

1. Release the two camera modules from their guides one after the other by carefully sliding a pair of tweezers underneath them.

1. Since the earpiece is neither screwed nor glued, you can remove it directly from the device.
2. A pair of tweezers may be useful to initially lift it up.

1. Start by removing the adhesive strip from the inside of the case. This holds the connecting cables in place.
2. Heat the glued cables, so that they can be removed more easily.
3. Then run a steel spatula under the cables to detach them from the bottom of the case one by one.

1. Prepare your replacement screen by removing all protective films from the screen's inside.
2. In order to protect the screen from scratches, you can leave the film over the screen glass on until the end of the repair.

The labeling on the cables helps you with the alignment.

1. Reattach the two connecting cables to the case bottom and press them firmly.

For the earpiece to fit properly, its golden contacts must face forward.

1. Place the earpiece in its guide and press it firmly.

• 1 × 2.7 mm

When inserting, be careful not to damage the front camera or connectors.

1. Put the motherboard back in place. Make sure that it sits level all over.
2. Screw it tight with the single Phillips screw.

• Connector

Never attach connectors by force. Damage can lead to the failure of an entire component.

1. Attach the two connecting cables back to the motherboard by gently pressing them in place. They must click into place audibly and perceptibly.

• Connector

1. Place the two camera lenses back into their guides.
2. Press them down lightly, so that the glue bonds properly again.
3. Reconnect the lenses to the motherboard.

1. Place the fingerprint sensor into the new screen unit.
2. Press it lightly, so that the remaining glue bonds again.

1. Put the vibration motor back in its guide and press it lightly.

• Connector

When inserting the USB board, be careful not to pinch any connectors.

1. Insert the board in the screen unit. In order for it to sit level, the charging jack must fit properly into the edge of the case.
2. Press the connector of the fingerprint sensor and the orange connecting cable on it.

1. Put the speaker back on the USB board and press it lightly.

• Connector

In order for the cables to fit correctly, the white cable must be inserted first.

The small metal guides on the motherboard help to fix the cables.

1. Start by connecting the white antenna cable on the motherboard.
2. Press it back into its guide on the edge of the case and then attach the second connector on the USB board.
3. Proceed in the same way with the black cable.

1. Fold the volume cable back over the antenna cables and press it against the outer edge of the case.
2. Finally, fix the connecting and volume cables with the adhesive strips on the inner edge of the case.

• Connector

Two small plastic lugs will help you to securely fix the slot back onto the USB board.

1. Start by pressing the slot for the screen cable back onto the board.
2. Then press the actual connector of the cable back in place as well.

• Connector

1. Carefully press the screen cable onto the slot of the connecting cable.

1. First, attach the adhesive film to the bottom of the case.
2. Place the battery in its guide.
3. Finally, press the four adhesive tabs on the top of the battery.

• Connector

Always connect the battery as late as possible to avoid a potential short circuit.

1. Reconnect the battery by gently pressing its connector onto the motherboard.

1. Position the middle frame over the screen unit.
2. Press it firmly all around. It must audibly and perceptibly click into place.

• 18 × 3.7 mm Phillips

1. Fix the middle frame with the 18 Phillips screws.

The engraving on the SIM tray helps you to insert it the right way around.

1. Slide the SIM tray back into the case frame.

We recommend testing the replacement screen and other basic functions at this point. Again, use our checklist for this.

If something doesn't work properly during testing, double-check that everything is installed and attached correctly.

1. Switch on your Oppo again.
2. Test the touch function by dragging an app across the screen.

If the adhesive frame is still in good condition, you do not need to install a new one. However, if it has defects or no longer sticks properly, we recommend that you use a new adhesive frame.In our example, we used thin, double-sided tape.

We recommend that you run hot air over the edge of the back cover again, so that the glue bonds properly. You can also weigh down your device with books for a few minutes.
