9 steps
  1. Removing the back cover

    1. Insert the spudger into the gap next to the standby button. Carefully lift the back cover. There are several small clips on the outside under the back cover. You have to disconnect them by moving the spudger around the entire smartphone one time. Alternatively, you can detach the back cover using your fingernails.
    2. Then you can take off the back cover.
  2. Removing the battery

    1. If your Samsung Galaxy’s still on, turn it off now by holding down the standby button for about three seconds and following the prompt on the display.
    2. Now use the spudger or your fingertip to lift the battery (see figure 1) and then remove it (see figure 2).
  3. Disconnecting the Home button cable

    2. Use the flat end of the spudger to disconnect the connector.
  4. Disconnecting the display

    1. The Samsung Galaxy S5 mini’s display is glued firmly in place. To detach it, you have to constantly heat it with a heat gun so the glue will soften. Then you have to insert a plastic pick into the gap between the frame and the display to detach the adhesive. You can also lift the display with a suction cup at the same time.
    2. If necessary, you can start with the very thin, stiff metal laboratory spatula. Use the plastic pick as soon as a little gap opens up.
    3. The display is especially glued on in the middle. As soon as you can lift the display a little, look into the gap at regular intervals to avoid damaging the display and Home button cable.
    4. Now carefully continue lifting the display so you can disconnect the display connector from the logic board.
