Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro - Replacing the screen

Use our checklist to test the basic functions of your Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC before repairing. This way you can check afterwards if your repair was successful.

1. Press and hold the power button until the Power Off menu appears on the screen.
2. Tap Power off in the displayed menu. Your smartphone will shut down within a few seconds.

1. Press a thin, pointed object into the small round opening next to the SIM tray to push it out of the device frame. We use a SIM tool for this purpose.
2. Then pull the tray completely out of the frame.

The edge of the back cover is heavily glued. It is therefore essential to first heat it up sufficiently. Use a hot air device for this purpose, such as a heat gun or an ordinary hair dryer.

1. Heat the edge of the back cover by running the hot air device evenly over it.

To create a narrow gap between back cover and display unit you need a flat, stable tool. We recommend the iFlex for this, since it has particularly sharp edges that can be easily inserted.

1. Attach a suction cup to the lower edge of the back cover and pull it upwards. Insert the iFlex between the display unit and the back cover at the same time.

To avoid damaging the edge of the case with the sharp edges of the iFlex, you should switch to a plastic tool like the iPlastix as soon as possible.

Be extra careful when loosening around the camera module, so you don't damage it with your tool.

1. Drive the tool completely around the edge of the back cover to loosen it piece by piece.
2. Slide flat picks under the back cover at regular intervals, so that the glue cannot bond again.

We recommend you to use a screw storage. This way you keep track of everything during the repair and don't lose anything. For example, you can use our high-quality magnetic pad.

1. Remove the 17 Phillips screws from the middle frame.
2. Then place them on the magnetic pad.

The middle frame is firmly hooked to the screen unit and has to be unhooked.

Be careful when unfolding the detached middle frame to avoid damaging the fingerprint sensor that is still connected.

1. Push a flat plectrum with a bit of pressure between the screen unit and the middle frame. It is best to start on one of the two long sides of the frame.
2. Run the pick completely around the frame. It should audibly and noticeably separate from the screen unit.
3. Carefully unfold the loosened middle frame.

• Connector

Always detach the battery connector as soon as possible to avoid a potential short circuit.

When separating connectors, always start from the side where there are no small components on the motherboard. This way you avoid potential damage.

1. Carefully pry the battery connector from the motherboard with a plastic spudger.

• Connector

1. Disconnect the fingerprint sensor connector in the same way as the battery connector.
2. Afterwards, you can completely remove the middle frame and put it aside.

The battery is fixed in the screen unit with a continuous thin adhesive film, on the underside of which are the actual adhesive surfaces. The three tabs of the adhesive film rest on the upper side of the battery.

1. First, remove the three adhesive tabs from the top of the battery. The labeling of the tabs indicates the order.

1. Release the battery from its guide by gently pulling the adhesive tab with the A label.
2. Put the loosened battery aside.

When replacing the screen, the white adhesive film of the battery has to be transferred to the new screen in order to attach the battery again.

To remove the battery's adhesive film from the screen unit without leaving any residue, you should first heat it with hot air.

1. Heat the adhesive film by running a hot air device evenly over it.
2. Then pull it off piece by piece. You can also use a flat tool like the steel spatula.

• Connector

1. Carefully lever the connector of the front camera off the board.
2. Take the separated front camera out of the device and put it aside.

Over the connector of the connecting cable and the earpiece runs a heat protection foil. To be able to take out the motherboard, the foil has to be removed first.

1. Remove the heat protection foil above the connector of the connection cable. To do so, carefully nibble it off with your fingers or use ESD tweezers.
2. Then also remove the heat protection foil over the earpiece.

• Connector

1. Disconnect the exposed connector of the connection cable with a spudger.
2. Use a pair of tweezers to carefully disconnect the antenna cable from the motherboard as well.

A notch in the motherboard shows you where to place your tool.

1. Carefully lever the motherboard out of its guide with a spudger and take it out of the device.

The connector of the earpiece does not have a socket on the motherboard, but is glued flat to the bottom of the case. Be careful not to damage it when detaching the earpiece.

1. Remove the earpiece from its guide by moving a pair of tweezers underneath it.

• Connector

The lower part of the connecting cable is glued to the speaker module. To be able to remove the speaker, the cable must be disconnected and removed.

1. Carefully lever the connector of the connecting cable from its slot on the USB board.
2. Pull the glued end of the connecting cable off the speaker module with a pair of tweezers. Press the speaker down while doing so.

1. Take the speaker out of the device with tweezers and put it aside.

• Connector

1. Disconnect the screen by carefully prying its connector off the USB board with a spudger.

1. Carefully pull the antenna cable out of its guide in the case frame with the help of tweezers.

1. Take the USB board including the antenna cable out of the device and put it aside.

The vibration motor is slightly stuck. To make it easier to loosen, you can first briefly heat it with hot air.

1. Remove the vibration motor from the screen unit by carefully detaching it with a pair of tweezers.

The connecting cable connects the USB- to the motherboard. It is glued to the bottom of the case. To make it easier to remove, you can first heat it briefly with hot air.

1. Run a hot air device evenly over the connecting cable to heat up the glue.

Unfortunately, the labeling of the connecting cable is in Chinese. Therefore, remember the orientation of the cable for later assembly.

1. Use a flat, sturdy tool to drive underneath the connecting cable to detach it from the case bottom. We can recommend a steel spatula for this.
2. Put the detached cable to the side.

1. Prepare the replacement screen by peeling off all the films and seals.
2. Position the connecting cable in its original alignment on the case bottom.
3. Press it firmly, so that the remaining glue bonds again.

1. Put the vibration motor back in its guide and press it lightly.

To ensure that the USB board sits evenly, the USB socket must be pushed correctly into its guide in the case frame. To do so, it is best to position the board at a slight angle.

1. Put the board back in its original position in the screen unit.

1. Use tweezers to carefully push the antenna cable back into its guide at the edge of the case.

• Connector

Never attach connectors by force. Damage can lead to the failure of an entire component.

1. Reattach the screen connector to the USB board by gently pressing down. You should hear and feel it click into place.

To avoid damaging the connecting cable when inserting the speaker, you should slightly bend it.

1. Insert the speaker. The connecting cable must lie over the speaker.

• Connector

1. Reattach the connecting cable by gently pressing its connector onto the USB board.

1. Put the earpiece back into its guide and press it firmly.

To avoid damaging any flex cables when inserting the motherboard, you should hold the cables slightly aside.

1. Put the board back into the screen unit and press it down.

• Connector

1. Reconnect the connecting cable as well as the antenna cable to the motherboard by gently pressing them in. You should hear and feel them click into place.

1. If the heat protection foil is still intact, you can put it back on over the connecting cable connector or the earpiece.

• Connector

1. Put the front camera back into its guide.
2. Connect its connector to the motherboard. It should audibly and noticeably click into place.

The white horizontal stripe on the adhesive film helps you align it.

1. Align the battery's adhesive film .
2. Press the adhesive film firmly into the casing, with the black adhesive surfaces facing down.
3. Then position the battery as well and press it lightly.

• Connector

Be especially careful when connecting the fingerprint sensor to avoid overstretching the sensitive flex cable.

1. Lean the middle frame against the screen unit.
2. Reconnect the fingerprint sensor by pressing its connector gently on the motherboard. It should audibly and noticeably click into place.

• Connector

Always connect the battery connector last to avoid a potential short circuit.

1. You can now also reattach the battery connector to the motherboard.

It is important that the middle frame sits level everywhere. If it stands out in places, loosen it again and check whether everything is installed correctly and no flex cables are jammed.

1. Once the battery and fingerprint sensor connectors are connected, you can fold down the middle frame.
2. Press it firmly down all the way around the screen unit. You should hear and feel it click into place.

1. Fasten the middle frame with the 17 Phillips screws.

Before you glue your Xiaomi again, you should test it for functionality at this point.If something doesn't work properly during testing, switch your device off again and double-check if everything is installed and attached correctly.

1. Turn your Redmi Note 10 Pro back on.
2. Drag an app over the screen to see if the touch works properly everywhere.
3. Also, check the function of the fingerprint scanner.
4. To test other components, you can use our checklist as a guide.

If the adhesive frame is still in good condition, you do not need to install a new one. However, if it has defects or no longer sticks properly, we recommend that you install a new adhesive frame.

If the old adhesive frame forms lumps in some places, you should remove them, so that the back cover lies flat again and seals your smartphone properly.

We recommend that you run hot air over the edge of the back cover again, so that the glue bonds properly. You can also weigh down your device with books for a few minutes.

1. Close your Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro after the repair by pressing the back cover back onto the screen unit.

Make sure to insert the SIM tray the right way around.

1. Re-insert the SIM tray once the back cover is properly and firmly in place.
