6 steps
  1. Switch off the device

    1. Turn off your device by holding down the power button on the back until the “Power off” option appears.
    2. Tap to confirm and wait until the screen goes black.
  2. Remove back cover

To loosen the back cover, use a heat gun or an ordinary hair dryer. Warm glue is easier to loosen, allowing you to remove the back cover.

The easiest way to loosen the back cover is to use a flat and flexible tool such as the iFlex.

We also recommend inserting flat picks to prevent the glue from sticking again.

    1. Heat the entire rear glass. It's glued all around the edges and around the home button and over the USB port.
    2. Insert the iFlex between the rear glass and the frame, but not more than 5 mm.

Be extra careful, the back cover can break very easily. Don't pry with the tool, but only slide it around the edges. If necessary, apply the heat several times and try again. Removing the back cover might take a while. Take a little more time and work carefully to make sure you don't break anything.

    1. Once the rear glass comes off in one place, insert a pick into the gap to keep it open.
    2. Then run the iFlexit around all the edges to gradually loosen the glue.
    3. The rear glass has extra glue around the home button and over the USB port. Here you need to insert the iFlexit a little deeper. But not to far, or you could damage parts on the home button.
    4. Once the rear glass is unglued, you can lift it off. There's not cable attached.
  3. Preparing the frame and back cover

Remove all adhesive residues that have remained on the frame so that the new back cover fits properly later.

Take a plastic tool and scrape off the glue. If the glue doesn't come off, warm it up a little.

You can also use isopropanol to remove any remaining glue.

Check your spare part and compare it with the old back cover. Not all spare parts are the same. For example, you may have to take over the fingerprint sensor or the camera guidance. Usually, however, everything should already be included in the spare part.

Also remove all films on the adhesive surfaces of the spare part.

In our guide we didn't use a new part, because our back cover was still intact. But the procedure is the same.

If you only replace the rear glass, check your spare part first. It may already come with a fingerprint sensor. Then you can skip this step.

    1. Heat the fingerprint sensor / standby button in the rear glass to soften the glue.
    2. Then use a flat tool to release the sensor's flex cable.
    3. The work the tool all around the sensor to separate it from the rear glass. Then take out the sensor.
  6. Insert fingerprint sensor

    G6 - Insert fingerprint sensor 01
    G6 - Insert fingerprint sensor 02
    G6 - Insert fingerprint sensor 03

Place the sensor into the opening in the rear glass.

Position the flex cable. The two holes in the cable fit on the two pins in the rear glass.

Then press on to attach the sensor and flex cable. If necessary, use hot air to soften the glue.

  7. Attach rear glass

    G6 - Attach rear glass 01
    G6 - Attach rear glass 02
    1. Place the rear glass back on the device and press it on.

You can heat the rear glass again to make the glue stick better.
