  1. Removing the stylus

    1. Use your finger to pull the stylus out of your Galaxy Note Edge.
  2. Removing the back cover

    1. Disconnect the back cover from the back of your device. There’s a little indentation at the top of your Galaxy Note Edge that you can stick your fingernail in. The back cover is hooked onto the device at several points so you have to use your finger in more than one place and then pull carefully.
    2. Remove the back cover.
  3. Removing the battery

    1. Using your finger, lift the battery a little bit out of the enclosure.
    2. Use your thumb and finger to take the battery out of the enclosure.
  4. Removing the SIM and microSD cards

    1. Use your finger to remove the SIM card from the SIM card slot.
    2. Remove the microSD card from the microSD card slot.
  5. Removing the chassis

    1. Unscrew the fifteen screws holding the chassis in place and remove them.
      15 x 4.0 mm Phillips screw
    2. The chassis is hooked onto the display frame. Disconnect it by inserting the pick between the chassis and the display frame and undoing the hooks. Start at the recess for the battery.
    3. Move the pick around the entire device and completely disconnect the frame from the chassis.
    4. Lift the chassis and remove it.
  6. Disconnecting all the connections to the logic board

    1. Disconnect all the connections to the logic board in the order shown below:
      Touchscreen
      LCD
      Home button/fingerprint sensor
      Wi-Fi antenna cable
      Bluetooth antenna cable
    2. Use the pointed tip of the spudger to disconnect the plug contacts. Carefully insert the spudger below the connector and use a little force to pry it off the logic board.
  7. Removing the logic board

    1. The bottom of the logic board is connected to the sub-board by a connector (blue arrow). Before you remove the logic board, you have to disconnect this connection. Put the flat end of the spudger between the logic board and the enclosure, and disconnect the connection. Make sure that the spudger is on the sub-board’s flexible flat cable. Don’t press too hard because that could damage the flexible flat cable.
    2. Take the logic board out of the enclosure with your finger. Tilt it upward a little so you can lift it at the thin end.
  8. Removing the sub-board

    1. Disconnect the sensor buttons from the sub-board by using the spudger to carefully disconnect the connector.
    2. The sub-board is glued to the display frame. Detach the sub-board by gently inserting the steel laboratory spatula between the sub-board and the display frame. If the glue’s too strong, you can heat it with hot air.
    3. Take the sub-board out of the enclosure with your fingers.
  9. Removing the proximity sensor

    1. There’s a little plastic cover holding the proximity sensor in the display frame. Remove the plastic cover.
    2. The sensor’s contact is glued to the enclosure. Carefully insert the steel laboratory spatula between each contact and the enclosure to disconnect the contacts from the enclosure. If the glue’s too strong, you can also heat the contacts with hot air.
    3. Remove the proximity sensor from the display frame.
  10. Removing the earpiece

    1. The earpiece is in a recess in the display frame. There’s an opening at the top of the recess where you can carefully insert the steel laboratory spatula to pry out the earpiece. Note that the earpiece is lightly glued in place.
    2. The earpiece’s contacts are also glued to the enclosure. Use a little force to detach them from the enclosure. Insert the steel spatula between the contacts and the enclosure.
    3. Remove the earpiece from the enclosure.
  11. Removing the headphone jack

    1. Using the steel spatula, remove the 3.5 mm jack socket from the recess in the display frame by putting the spatula on the side of the socket and then inserting it between the socket and the enclosure.
    2. Carefully pry out the socket while disconnecting the headphone jack’s contacts from the display frame.
    3. Remove the headphone jack.
  12. Removing the vibrator motor

    1. The vibration motor is glued to the display frame so you have to carefully detach it using the steel spatula. Gently insert the spatula between the vibrator motor and the enclosure.
    2. Remove the motor from the display frame.
  13. Transferring the buttons

    1. Using the steel laboratory spatula, carefully detach the buttons for the volume rocker switch from the enclosure. Insert the spatula between the contacts and the enclosure to detach the glue.
    2. Remove the buttons from the enclosure. Pull them up to remove them because they are inserted vertically in the enclosure.
    3. The plastic rocker switch is slightly clamped in place in the display frame. Use the steel spatula or spudger to push out the plastic rocker switch from the inside.
    4. Remove the rocker switch with the tweezers by pulling it out of the opening in the enclosure.
    5. The plastic button for the standby button is also slightly clamped into the display frame. Push it out of the enclosure from the inside.
    6. Remove the button from the enclosure.

  15. Preparing the new display

    1. If there’s still protective film on your replacement part’s reddish thermal pads, remove it. You also have to take all the protective film off the other adhesive surfaces.
    2. Put the button for the standby button back into the opening in the display frame. It will be slightly clamped in place.
    3. You also have to insert the plastic rocker switch for volume control the same way again.
    4. Put the buttons for the volume rocker switch back in. Insert them from above so they’re fitted vertically in the enclosure. Then use your finger to gently press the contact onto the enclosure so the glue will stick.
  16. Installing the vibrator motor

    1. Put the vibrator motor in the original position in the display frame. Make sure the motor’s contacts are in the right position. There’s an eyelet next to the two gold contacts that you have to pull over a plastic pin. Press the motor and its contacts onto the enclosure a little so the glue will stick.
  17. Installing the headphone jack

    1. Put the 3.5 mm jack socket back in the opening in the enclosure. Press the socket and its contacts onto the enclosure so the glue will stick.
  18. Installing the earpiece

    1. Put the earpiece into the appropriate opening in the display frame and press both the earpiece and its contacts firmly onto the enclosure so the glue will stick.
  19. Inserting the proximity sensor

    1. Put the proximity sensor back in the recess in the display frame. Make sure the contacts are fitted properly. There’s an eyelet next to the 5 gold contacts. You have to pull this eyelet over a plastic pin in the enclosure.
    2. Gently press the contacts onto the surface so the glue will really stick.
    3. Put the plastic cover that holds the sensor in place back on.
    4. If necessary, push it firmly into place.
  20. Installing the sub-board

    1. Using your fingers, put the sub-board back in the original position in the enclosure. Press the board on firmly so the glue will really stick to the display frame.
    2. Connect the connector for the sensor buttons to the sub-board. Carefully press the contact onto the corresponding part on the board. You should hear it gently click into place.
  21. Installing the logic board

    1. When you install the logic board, note that you have to connect the sub-board and logic board to each other. The connector (blue arrow) for the sub-board is on the bottom of the logic board.
    2. Slightly tilt the logic board and put it at the upper end of the display frame. Then fold it down and don’t forget that you have to hear the sub-board’s connector gently click into place.
  22. Making all the connections to the logic board

    1. Connect all the connectors to the logic board in the order shown below:
      Bluetooth antenna cable
      Wi-Fi antenna cable
      Home button/fingerprint sensor
      LCD
      Touchscreen
    2. Position each connector over its corresponding part on the logic board and connect the two parts by pressing gently on the connector.
  23. Installing the chassis

    1. Put the chassis back in its original position on the display frame. Using your fingers, press the entire surface of the chassis onto the frame so the chassis clicks into place on the enclosure.
    2. Use the fifteen screws to attach the chassis to the display frame.

  24. Inserting the SIM and microSD cards

    1. Put the microSD card in the microSD slot and make sure it’s aligned right.
    2. Using your finger, carefully push the SIM card into the SIM card slot and make sure it’s aligned right.
  25. Installing the battery

    1. Put the battery back in the enclosure. Make sure the battery’s four gold contacts are touching the four gold springs in your device.
    2. Put the battery back in so it’s flush with the enclosure.
  26. Attaching the back cover

    1. Put the back cover on the back of your Galaxy Note Edge. Make sure the back cover is in the right position.
    2. Press the entire surface of the back cover onto your whole smartphone so all the back cover’s clips click into place in your device.
  27. Putting in the stylus

    1. Put the stylus back in your device by pushing it into the opening at the bottom of the enclosure until it clicks into place.
