In this repair guide, we show you how to replace your Samsung Galaxy Note Edge’s defective rear camera on your own. You need this repair if the rear camera isn’t working, your pictures are blurry, or the camera doesn’t focus.

  1. Removing the stylus

    1. Use your finger to pull the stylus out of your Galaxy Note Edge.
  2. Removing the back cover

    1. Disconnect the back cover from the back of your device. There’s a little indentation at the top of your Galaxy Note Edge that you can stick your fingernail in. The back cover is hooked onto the device at several points so you have to use your finger in more than one place and then pull carefully.
    2. Remove the back cover.
  3. Removing the battery

    1. Using your finger, lift the battery a little bit out of the enclosure.
    2. Use your thumb and finger to take the battery out of the enclosure.
  4. Removing the SIM and microSD cards

    1. Use your finger to remove the SIM card from the SIM card slot.
    2. Remove the microSD card from the microSD card slot.
  5. Removing the chassis

    1. Unscrew the fifteen screws holding the chassis in place and remove them.
      15 x 4.0 mm Phillips screw
    2. The chassis is hooked onto the display frame. Disconnect it by inserting the pick between the chassis and the display frame and undoing the hooks. Start at the recess for the battery.
    3. Move the pick around the entire device and completely disconnect the frame from the chassis.
    4. Lift the chassis and remove it.
  6. Disconnecting all the connections to the logic board

    1. Disconnect all the connections to the logic board in the order shown below:
      Touchscreen
      LCD
      Home button/fingerprint sensor
      Wi-Fi antenna cable
      Bluetooth antenna cable
    2. Use the pointed tip of the spudger to disconnect the plug contacts. Carefully insert the spudger below the connector and use a little force to pry it off the logic board.
  7. Removing the logic board

    1. The bottom of the logic board is connected to the sub-board by a connector (blue arrow). Before you remove the logic board, you have to disconnect this connection. Put the flat end of the spudger between the logic board and the enclosure, and disconnect the connection. Make sure that the spudger is on the sub-board’s flexible flat cable. Don’t press too hard because that could damage the flexible flat cable.
    2. Take the logic board out of the enclosure with your finger. Tilt it upward a little so you can lift it at the thin end.
  8. Removing the rear camera

    1. Turn the logic board you removed around so the connection for the rear camera is on the top, and disconnect the rear camera from the logic board.
    2. Remove the rear camera from the logic board by lifting it straight up because the camera’s enclosure is routed through the logic board.

    1. Put the rear camera in its original position on the logic board. Lower it straight in because you have to route the camera’s enclosure through the logic board.
    2. Connect the rear camera connector to the logic board. You’ll hear the connector click softly into place.

    1. When you install the logic board, note that you have to connect the sub-board and logic board to each other. The connector (blue arrow) for the sub-board is on the bottom of the logic board.
    2. Slightly tilt the logic board and put it at the upper end of the display frame. Then fold it down and don’t forget that you have to hear the sub-board’s connector gently click into place.
  12. Making all the connections to the logic board

    1. Connect all the connectors to the logic board in the order shown below:
      Bluetooth antenna cable
      Wi-Fi antenna cable
      Home button/fingerprint sensor
      LCD
      Touchscreen
    2. Position each connector over its corresponding part on the logic board and connect the two parts by pressing gently on the connector.
  13. Installing the chassis

    1. Put the chassis back in its original position on the display frame. Using your fingers, press the entire surface of the chassis onto the frame so the chassis clicks into place on the enclosure.
    2. Use the fifteen screws to attach the chassis to the display frame.
      15 x 4.0 mm Phillips screw
  14. Inserting the SIM and microSD cards

    1. Put the microSD card in the microSD slot and make sure it’s aligned right.
    2. Using your finger, carefully push the SIM card into the SIM card slot and make sure it’s aligned right.
  15. Installing the battery

    1. Put the battery back in the enclosure. Make sure the battery’s four gold contacts are touching the four gold springs in your device.
    2. Put the battery back in so it’s flush with the enclosure.

    1. Put the back cover on the back of your Galaxy Note Edge. Make sure the back cover is in the right position.
    2. Press the entire surface of the back cover onto your whole smartphone so all the back cover’s clips click into place in your device.
  17. Putting in the stylus

    1. Put the stylus back in your device by pushing it into the opening at the bottom of the enclosure until it clicks into place.
